My portfolio has been assembled- save for one photo of my self-portrait bust I'm debating on including. With a little over 2 days to go, my long as FUCK ordeal is really and truly at the home stretch.
Oh yea, it got trying near the end, thanks to COB- once again trying to pull me under the currents with their bullshit, with respect to my transcripts. Hopefully that's been settled, though. At least they actually SENT them out, though. Already got a confirmation from SCAD, and they're on standby waiting for my final package. NO word yet from either Ringling or LCAD, but I have a little more time. This whole rush came on thanks to ECUAD's Friday deadline.
I feel giddy, I feel queasy, I feel.. elated. I can't believe I actually finished, to be frank. But what's so important about this accomplishment isn't even about me one step closer to sending my stuff out, or the knowledge that I'm so close to finally leaving. It's more because I set out my goals, my timeline, my pace... and reached them with little to no prompting from the parental units. I mean, yea me and mum got into a shouting match when Mum saw my hour of inactivity as total flippancy for deadlines [yea, we should be used to this by now], but yea... it was ALL on my own. And it feels DAMN good!
In other news, I was fortunate enough to have my work featured in the recent Shakespeare in Paradise Theatre Festival, that closed up this Monday. I was contacted by one of the local graphic designers earlier and asked if I wanted to contribute some art for promotional purposes. Between the chance to have my work seen all over New Providence and that the Festival was put together by one of my favorite persons Dr Nico Bethell, I would be stupid to pass it up. My poster designs for "Zora" and "Love In Two Acts" were chosen along with the work of three other artists, and I was compensated wonderfully with tickets and invites to meet the stars of the 7-play Festival. The highlight of the Festival for me was being able to meet the actress playing Zora herself, Kim Brockington. She is a wonderful individual and her performance was breathtaking, to say the least. And of course, the other plays I was able to see[the festival's flagship The Tempest, Love In Two Acts, Caribbean Voices starring Guyanese Ken Corsbie and Music of the Bahamas] was all phenomenal. Everyone really put their heart and soul into making this a huge success, and I'm just humbled to have been a part of it. I can't wait for next year's Festival!
